Got a block of 6' x 8' Jelutong from a bookstore (of all places). In terms of handling, it was pretty easy to carve. The downside was that the wood sort of splintered everytime the chisel hit its mark.
Its looks very unfinished now - needs more sanding! Going to use some acrylic later to cover the very obvious flaws.
